Small is beautiful and often easier to convey and sell. This is the case with the popular Volkswagen e-Up! the entry-level electric model that had been ‘frozen’ at the end of 2020 by the Wolfsburg company in order to be able to dispose of an order book in 2021 that included delivery times of up to 16 months.
After climbing to second place in Germany in the special Bev ranking (behind the Volkswagen ID.3) and having totaled over 80,000 registrations globally, the e-Up! returns to the brand configurators as an entry model to the world of electric Volkswagen – at a price in Germany of 26,895 euros – in the Style Plus version only.
Gradually, the note states, the small electric town of the Wolfsburg company will be launched (or rather re-launched) in other European markets, including Italy.
The 2022 edition of the e-Up! Style Plus is equipped with a 61 kW (83 Hp) electric motor and 210 Nm of torque. Thanks to its low energy consumption – 12.7 kWh in the combined cycle every 100 kilometers – the 32.2 kWh battery offers a WLTP range of 258 kilometers.
Among other standard features, e-Up! Style Plus comes with a CCS charging cable for fast charging, Lane Assist lane departure warning system, Climatronic air conditioning, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel and 15 ” light alloy wheels inch Blade.
Battery charging times are short: with a DC charging power of 40 kW, 60 minutes are enough to return to 80% of available energy. With AC power, a 7.2 kW home charge takes just over 4 hours to reach 80%.
