(ANSA) – PESCARA, FEBRUARY 28 – The Municipalities of Pescara, Montesilvano, Pianella and Cepagatti use the revenue from the fines to strengthen road safety.

The request sent to the local administrators, and for information also to the prefect of Pescara, comes from the unitary association of families and victims of the road (which unites various associations under a single acronym, Aufv). In the letter, signed by the vice-president Biagio Ciaramella, the application of the specific article of the Highway Code is requested, which provides that the municipal revenues deriving from fines must be used exclusively for the strengthening of road safety. “We have been involved with our associations for years on the road safety front – highlights Ciaramella -, the request was sent in agreement with the presidents of all three associations. It is not the first time that we have taken such initiatives: similar requests are have been sent, over time, to other municipal administrations “. “As an association – adds the lawyer Walter Rapattoni – we will always be at the forefront so that sanctions are used as a tool for safety and not just to make money”. The municipalities in question – the association still points out – have ended up in the news in recent months “for having raised a disproportionate number of fines with fixed speed cameras”. Finally, a meeting was requested with the municipal administrations concerned to find out if the Urban Traffic Plan and the Sustainable Mobility Plan have been prepared, if interventions for the maintenance and installation of traffic light systems have been planned, if the bollards have been placed in the points of particular danger for traffic and if the mapping of municipal roads that present particular criticalities has begun.
