Ukraine: from Tesla free recharge on border columns

Tesla has decided to activate free charging for cars that stop at the charging stations of four cities on the border with Ukraine. A move, according to the company, to support those who have decided to leave the country, without burdening the costs of food. At the moment, the stations involved are those of Trzebownisko in Poland, Košice in Slovakia, Miskolc and Debrecen in Hungary. “We hope that this will help the fugitives to reach a safe place” reads the message received from Tesla customers in the affected countries, who confirmed activation at the Teslarati specialized site. Tesla last year began making its stations in Europe compatible with vehicles from other brands. The Supercharger stations concerned can therefore act as a power supply for all supported electric vehicles, even if from different manufacturers. The company founded by Elon Musk has often enabled “free charge” at its columns during meteorological emergencies, but this is the first time it has intervened with such an initiative during a military conflict. Tesla does not operate directly in Ukraine, but according to some plans that emerged in 2021, the American giant intended to debut in the country very soon, already choosing the positions for the construction of the columns. Musk, who is also the CEO of SpaceX, had intervened in support of the Ukrainians in recent days, responding to an appeal by the Deputy Prime Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, to maintain internet connections via Starlink, the satellite service for which the entrepreneur has already sent several terminals necessary for the connection.
