Michelin expands the CrossClimate all-season tire range

Damiano Bolognini-Cobianchi With the new 21 and 22 inch sizes, Michelin expands the offer of CrossClimate 2 all-season tyres, also reaching owners of medium and large sized SUVs. Suitable both for summer use and for use in cold climates and snow, the tires of the transalpine manufacturer focus on versatility of use, as well as on safety and the proverbial mileage of the Bibendum, to consolidate the leadership in Italy among the ‘all season ‘.

Versatility tested in a road test in Valtellina, driving a hybrid Jeep Renegade 4xe, going in just a few minutes from an altitude of 211 meters and 15 degrees in Mantello to -3 degrees in Bagni di Masino, just under 1,200 metres.

Precise when entering a trajectory, low noise, safe when gripping and braking, even with white surfaces, the CrossClimate 2 confirmed in the short test on a mountain road those characteristics of adaptability which are the basis of their success. In flashes of snow, the grip and directionality proved to live up to the expectations generated by the M+S branding, accompanied by the certification of the snowflake inside the three-peak mountain. The stretches covered in electric mode made it possible to appreciate the limited rolling noise.

Launched in 2021, the second generation of the CrossClimate is now divided into four product lines, two of which are dedicated to motorists and two to professional and leisure users.

The initial proposal, designed to equip small, medium, compact and crossover cars, has been joined since 2022 by a second one, called CrossClimate 2 Suv, developed to meet the needs of those who drive a sport utility vehicle. Then there are Agilis CrossClimate and CrossClimate Camping, designed respectively for commercial/van and mobile homes.

As underlined during the event by Silvia Vergani, B2C marketing director of Michelin Italia, “The tire market in 2022 has finally returned to pre-pandemic levels.

In this context, there is strong and continuous growth in the ‘all season’, which has increased by over 200% since 2015. At the basis of this success are both the ordinances that provide for winter tires – marked m+s, ed – to travel on many of our roads and the unpredictability of the weather. The four seasons offer – he concluded – responds to the needs of motorists who increasingly find themselves facing weather conditions that change suddenly, regardless of the season. An offer that with the introduction of the new 21 and 22 inch sizes for the CrossClimate 2 SUV is expanded by 10%”.
