Mercedes: turnover rises to 150 billion in 2022 (+12%)

The Mercedes-Benz group closes 2022 with a turnover of 150 billion euros, up 12% compared to 133.9 billion in 2021. Profit before interest and taxes (Ebit) rises to 20.5 billion, up 28%. A dividend of 5.2 euros has been proposed, up from the 5 euros of 2021. The group also plans a share buyback for a maximum value of 4 billion euros over 2 years. In its first year after the demerger of Daimler Truck, the Mercedes-Benz group continued its transformation despite the geopolitical and macroeconomic context. The “excellent results underline the improvement in profitability, even as the Covid-19 pandemic, bottlenecks in the semiconductor supply chain and the aftermath of Russia’s war against Ukraine continued to affect the business”, explains the group in a Note.

For 2023, the Mercedes Benz Group expects revenue at the previous year’s level, Ebit seen slightly below the 2022 level, free cash flow (Industrial Business) at the previous year’s level. “We have redesigned Mercedes-Benz to be a more profitable company thanks to our focus on desirable products and disciplined management of margins and costs. We cannot control macro or world events, but 2022 is an example of how we are doing moving in the right direction,” says Ola Kaellenius, Chief Executive Officer of the Mercedes-Benz Group. “In addition to delivering strong financial results, the team has accelerated our pace as a technology leader in electric and automated driving. The next chapter of our transformation will be unveiled during the Mercedes-Benz Strategy Update in California on February 22, focused on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System”.
