The stars of sport light up Taormina on the occasion of the award ceremony of the Sicilian motor racing and karting champions. Party and applause for the best pilots of the island in the most prestigious evening, organized by the regional delegation Aci Sport. At the center of the scene, alongside the president of Aci Angelo Sticchi Damiani and the regional delegate Daniele Settimo, the president of Coni Giovanni Malagò and the managing director of Formula 1 Stefano Domenicali, in addition to the Ferrari driver Antonio Giovinazzi, the engineer Andrea Adamo and the Sicilian talent Gabriele Minì (through a video message). Everyone “paraded” together with the 2022 Sicilian Champions, celebrating the due recognition with them.
In the jubilation of the evening, broadcast live by ACI Sport TV (Sky 228), the words of Malagò and Domenicali resounded, who were awarded the 2nd Nino Vaccarella Prize, with the participation of Giovanni Vaccarella, son of the unforgettable “Flying Principal”.
“I have a family bond with cars and motoring – said the president of Coni – I have always admired Nino Vaccarella, so this award fills me with emotion”.
Connected from New York, Domenicali, who has been at the helm of F1 since 2020, continued: “I had the pleasure of meeting Nino Vaccarella and receiving this award is a great honor. I am grateful to the ACI President and to the ACI Sport Sicilia Delegate/Trustee and to Giovanni (Vaccarella). It would be nice one day to see an F1 GP in Sicily too”.
The moments of honor followed one another amid applause and particularly prominent were those dedicated to Antonio Giovinazzi and Andrea Adamo. The Ferrari driver who is preparing his debut in the Endurance World Championship with the new 499P Hypercar was awarded the “Uno di Noi” prize, which the driver from Puglia collected together with Antonello Coletta, head of the customer racing division in Maranello: “And ‘ an electrifying start to the season for the work we are doing – said Giovinazzi – Thank you for this award. It will be a very interesting season”.
