Maserati: Ad Grasso, at the top for profitability by the end of the year

Maserati, since the relaunch of the Trident brand in 2020 – which coincided with the debut of the MC20 super sports car – has continued to proceed at high speed and, strengthening itself with the arrival of the Grecale SUV and the GranTurismo which is the first car of the Trident which has an all-electric version, is preparing to position itself at the top of the auto industry in terms of profitability within a year. This was stated by Davide Grasso, CEO of Maserati, during an interview with ANSA. “After relaunching the brand in 2020, last year was a year of great acceleration – said Grasso -. We are accelerating further in 2023. We started with the GranTurismo which will be presented and then sold this year in both thermal and electric versions. The results are there and Maserati will certainly accelerate further. We expect to be at the top of the automotive sector in terms of profitability within twelve months”.

2023 is also the year in which the House based in via Ciro Menotti is also back on the track with the Formula E single-seater. “The choice of the track is perfectly in line with Maserati – said Grasso – partly because it comes from the track almost 110 years ago, with the Maserati brothers, but above all because it is in line with our electrification strategy”.

From 2025 all Maserati models will therefore also have an electric version and by 2030 the entire range will be electrified. “Maserati faces this challenge with what have always been the values of the brand. Values of excellence, innovation, performance, luxury and Italian design”.

“As regards the challenge of electrification – reiterated the CEO of Maserati – we are ready. We are ready even if the stringent European standards were approved only the other day, this is because we have the technology, we have the plans and we are executing them to allow us to have the choice of our range between electric and thermal as early as 2025. And subsequently to have the totally electrified range”.

We are talking about the two excellences called Folgore and Nettuno. “Nettuno – underlined Grasso – is an exceptional endothermic V6 engine. And Folgore is a fully electric engine. The first, let’s say, is all made in Italy.

If there is no made in Italy, there is no Maserati and therefore Maserati will always be made in Italy as a representative of Italian excellence in the world”.

“I will give two examples that are absolutely fitting: the Nettuno engine which is an endothermic engine made in Maserati and made in Modena, is the only engine and the first that over the last ten years has imported a technology that precedes it, in what is present in Formula 1”.

“It’s a technology that makes the engine much more efficient.

We are the only brand that has transferred this solution from Formula 1 in the last ten years. Folgore, on the other hand, is a system of engines, because in the GranTurismo it includes three units that can develop up to 1,200 HP. We are absolutely at the top levels as regards the technology of electric motors and internal combustion engines, in terms of performance and efficiency”.
