In June last year the managers of the Cavallino announced that the project of a new generation hypercar heir to the iconic LaFerrari would soon arrive.
A prototype captured on the road by YouTuber Varryx (and then taken up by the US magazine Road & Track) now confirms that the program – although kept secret in the details – is proceeding. And it does it in the best possible way, which is to ‘give more and more’ to the world of customers and collectors of Maranello racing cars.
In fact, the few images of the future Ferrari under discussion show that it is an increasingly extreme and high-performing hypercar, with many elements in contact with the racing 499P that has just been unveiled and that will make its debut at the next 12 Hours of Sebring.
The styling is incredibly aggressive for a modern Ferrari, with a focus on aerodynamics as showcased by several air intakes and openings to channel airflow over and through the bodywork, which itself is reminiscent of the stock SF90 Stradale. The combination of the diffuser at the rear and the gigantic wing is something not seen frequently on a Ferrari road car but fits perfectly into the lineage of an evidently top-of-the-range model. Looking closely at the images, you will also notice stickers warning of the danger of high voltage, probably confirming the presence of a hybrid system hidden under the bodywork. Details about the future Ferrari hypercar’s powertrain remain under wraps, but an electrified V8 is likely to be centrally located.
A graph that was shown during the June 2022 announcement would even suggest that the engine could be directly borrowed from the SF90, albeit with some added performance over that Phev model’s 1,000bhp V8 in combination with the three electric drives. .
According to informed sources This hypercar will make its debut in October 2024 followed by an ultra-high performance variant in the fall of 2026. The assumption is that only 599 road cars and 30 track cars will be built. For 2027, the operation also provides for an Open variant, in this case limited to 199 units.
