In the third weekend of February (17-19) the Observatory of Asaps, the Polstrada supporters’ association, recorded 25 deaths. In 72 hours, 14 motorists, a pedestrian, 8 motorcyclists, a truck driver and a cyclist died. Three multi-fatal accidents caused seven victims, one fatal accident occurred on the motorway. The number of motorcyclists who lost their lives in weekend accidents is growing again: they were 8, an unusual number in the winter period, underlines Asaps, adding that the return of good weather certainly played a role. There were 14 fatal accidents on main country roads, while the vehicle leaving without the involvement of third parties was the cause of nine fatal accidents. Among the 25 victims, eight were under the age of 35: the oldest victim was 85, the youngest 18. There were 6 victims in Lombardy, 4 in Lazio, 3 in Tuscany, 2 in Sicily, Veneto, Calabria, Emilia -Romagna and one in Piedmont, Abruzzo, Puglia and Sardinia.
