Tesla will build a plant in Monterrey, Mexico

Tesla will build a plant in Mexico, in Monterrey. The Bloomberg agency reports it quoting the Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador who had an interview with Elon Musk. “There is an agreement, there will be an investment and the Tesla factory in Mexico will be located in Monterrey with a commitment to solve the problem of water scarcity,” the Mexican president said today in his usual morning press conference. “I don’t want to give more details because there will be an announcement from Tesla tomorrow,” he added. The announcement confirms that the Mexican government has finally accepted the conditions proposed by the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, which from the beginning envisaged locating the plant in the northern state of New Leon, on the border with Texas. Lopez Obrador said last week that he would not allow Tesla to install in that region arguing that it is an area that is suffering from a water crisis. In today’s announcement, the president said he has reached an agreement with Musk and Tesla’s commitment to help solve the Nueva Leon state’s water crisis by using a water recycling system for the new factory.
