The ‘myth’ Isotta Fraschini is back on track with the LMH Tipo 6

Everything is ready for a legend to return to the track: “Isotta Franchini, with a history that starts from racing to reach unrivaled luxury, wants to return and amaze” and presents a world premiere of the LMH Type 6 hypercar with which she intends to participate in the WEC 2023 , the FIA world endurance championship with the ‘race by race’ formula making its debut at Monza in June.
It is an entirely Made in Italy project, explain the president Alessandro Fassina and the director of Motorsport Claudio Berro, thanks to the collaboration with Michelotto Engineering which designs the engine (together with the Germans of Hwa) and an exclusive carbon body and will build them in Padua . It will have “one heart and three souls”: it will be a racing hypercar (Lmh), a ‘track’ and a ‘road’ variant that can be registered as a repeatable unique specimen in countries that allow this type of homologation.

The relaunch of the historic Milanese brand, founded on 27 January 1900, starts from racing which gives an immediate return of image and for a reason of exclusivity, thanks to exaggerated performance and its uniqueness. It is an all-wheel drive hypercar with a 700 horsepower turbocharged 90° V6 direct injection 3-liter internal combustion engine and a 270 horsepower electric motor. Other key components come from project partners Brembo (brakes), PWR (cooling system), Multimatic (suspension), XTrac (gearbox), Williams (battery system), Pankl (transmission) and Bosch (electronics). A 2,750,000 euro (plus tax) ‘jewel’ that can become a custom-made machine.

Behind the relaunch of the historic Milanese car manufacturer Isotta Fraschini there is a 100 million euro business plan, of which 25 million has already been paid in, all in equity as explained by the president (and partner) Alessandro Fassina and a breakeven target by 2026. 20% is in the hands of Nad Investment Fund while 80% is controlled by Isotta major whose shareholders remain in the shadows for now (with the exception of Fassina with 1%). The goal is to get to produce and sell about 50 specimens in 4 years. For now there is only one car, the racing one which will be used for testing in March, a second body – explains motorsport director Claudio Berro – will be used to obtain FIA homologation. A body will then arrive from Michelotto Engineering every 4 weeks: for the first few months we will be able to build one a month, for this year there will be 6-8 and then the production process will increase and we could make two a month” with an annual production of Type 6 cars of 50 units in 5 years. The first two-seater hypercar will be delivered in 2026, with production that in the following years will settle at 30/40 units per year. “Selling thirty cars a year would be much, much more than enough for our accounts” explains Fassina. The markets he is looking at are “Canada, the USA, the United Arab Emirates and China” explains Fassina “there is already a lot of interest but the first road bike has already been sold”, to an Italian.
