Nissan: 98% of cars in Europe will be electric in 2026

The process of electrification of Nissan continues rapidly, which by the end of the fiscal year 2026 expects to sell almost all of its cars in Europe with an electric motor. This is a significant acceleration compared to the objectives announced in November 2021: from 75% at the time, in fact, the Japanese car manufacturer now aims to reach a percentage of 98% between vehicles with hybrid engines and fully electric cars.

The announcement comes just a few weeks after the agreement with partner Renault to take over 15% of the Ampere venture specializing in research and development of sustainable resources in the automotive sector. Globally, Nissan aims to increase the percentage of electrified cars to 44% by the fiscal year ending March 2027, up from its previous target of 40%, and for the Japanese market, the target has also been revised upwards to 58% from the previous 55%. In contrast, in China Nissan revised its estimates to 35% from 40%, citing still robust demand for combustion engine cars. The Japanese automaker also said it would expand its all-electric vehicle offering with 19 new models by fiscal 2030, up from its previous plan of 15.
