Volvo, the electric trucks suitable for construction are coming

The transport and construction sectors become more sustainable with the new line of heavy electric trucks launched by Volvo Trucks.
Tailor-made for the construction industry, they meet the growing demand for quieter, zero-exhaust vehicles in and around urban construction sites. As mentioned, the demand for electric transport in the construction sector is increasing, given the obligation to meet climate objectives which also hangs over construction companies.
Volvo Trucks has developed vehicles for construction site applications, tractors and trucks, to accommodate different types of equipment such as tipper bodies, concrete mixers and cranes, now also available in a 100% electric version. The propulsion scheme includes 3 electric motors for a total power of approximately 490 kW/665 HP, powered by batteries with a capacity ranging from 450 to 540 kWh.
“Construction vehicles typically travel short distances and operate on repetitive cycles, for example delivering building materials to construction sites. This makes them suitable for electrification.” Explains Jessica Sandström, Global Product Manager of Volvo Trucks.
“Our electric trucks can be tailor-made to handle many of these tasks, meaning construction customers can now configure the same truck they use today as an electric version. This gives them better manoeuvrability, reduced noise levels and zero exhaust emissions.”
