Historic cars, Asi asks for a derogation to stop circulation in the Campidoglio

Ban on the circulation of historic cars in the ZTL of Rome: the revolt against the ordinance of the mayor of Rome, which establishes the ban on the circulation of the most polluting vehicles in restricted traffic areas, is triggered. To the chorus of protests following the provision, today is added the open letter written by the Presidents of the Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI) and of the National Registers Alfa Romeo, FIAT and Lancia, sent to the administration led by Gualtieri, reported in full.
“We write to you as Presidents of the Italian Historical Automotoclub (ASI) and of the National Alfa Romeo, FIAT and Lancia Registers, certifying bodies of historic vehicles envisaged by Article 60 of the CdS – we read – to express the concern of our thousands of Italian members and enthusiasts all for the ordinance n. 27 of 28 February 2023 concerning the limits on the circulation of vehicles in the new ZTL”.
According to the associations, “an ordinance such as the one just promulgated by the Mayor, in addition to not taking into account the legitimate expectations of citizens with interests, risks eliminating the activity of a sector which also represents a very important driving force of the economy (the associated exceeds €2.5 billion a year).
The request for exceptions “because these vehicles are a very important historical, cultural and economic heritage for our country. We do not ask that they circulate freely, but to be able to use them outside office hours only for recreational purposes. We propose – concludes the letter – a monitoring of the same at 12 months”.
