Maria-Elisabeth Schaeffler-Thumann will retire in April

Maria-Elisabeth Schaeffler-Thumann, one of the most influential women in the European automotive world and who has linked her name to the German component group of the same name, has resigned from her position on the supervisory board. She will retire from the business at the Annual General Meeting in April. She is the widow of the direct descendant of the founder Georg Schaeffler, who passed away in 1996.
“Ms. Schaeffler-Thumann has significantly shaped the Schaeffler Group for 25 years – commented CEO Klaus Rosenfeld – Under her aegis, the company has continuously expanded its market position, repeatedly reinventing itself and boldly breaking new ground” .
In 2008, together with her son Georg, Maria-Elisabeth Schaeffler-Thumann took over the 46% largest automotive supplier Continental. In 2021, the Schaeffler Group achieved sales of around 13.9 billion euros. With around 83,000 employees, Schaeffler is one of the largest family businesses in the world. It operates under the brands Ina, Fag and LuK.
