The return to the premier class of the FIA World Endurance Championship is approaching for Ferrari, which will make its debut in the 1000 Miles of Sebring with the 499P on 17 March.
The American competition, which will take place in Florida, will begin with the prologue on March 11 and 12, and will take place the following week. Specifically, following the free practice sessions on 15 and 16 March, and the qualifying sessions which will also take place on the 16th, the race will get underway on Friday 17 March.
The Hypercars of the prancing horse, numbered 50 and 51 respectively, will be driven on the track by the crews made up of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen, for the first, and by Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi, for the second. The Ferrari drivers will have to tackle a track with a surface made up of a mixture of asphalt and concrete which generates bumps. Furthermore, they will be called upon to face a demanding technical and reliability challenge. In this circuit, which measures 6.020 kilometers and includes 17 corners, Ferrari has claimed 12 overall and 37 class victories.
The story tells of a first success dating back to 1956 with the 860 Monza driven by Juan Manuel Fangio and Eugenio Castellotti. The most recent victory, however, dates back to 2016, when Christina Nielsen, Jeff Segal and Alessandro Balzan, in the 488 GT3, prevailed in the class reserved for production-derived cars.
