Mercedes-Benz Gla is renewed and points upwards

Even more complete standard equipment and numerous innovations for the new Mercedes-Benz Gla which is back on the scene in an updated version. For one of the most successful models of the house of the star, it’s time to show itself with a new radiator grille, with vertical slats and horizontal fin, as well as the bonnet that underlines its sportiness and the front bumper, redesigned with underrun protection which instead points to the off-road nature of the model.

The design of the new Gla has also been revised through the new luminous signature of the front headlights, High Performance LEDs as standard, and the LED rear lights. On the visual front, Mercedes-Benz has also expanded the range of options with the new Spectral Blue paint color and four further wheel designs. In the entry-level specification, the new Gla rides on high-gloss black 17-inch five-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels with high-gloss turned surfaces, but wheels in 18 to 20 inch sizes are also available.
Inside, one of the strengths of the refreshed Gla is the independent dual screens, which show themselves against the backdrop of a significantly revamped cabin. Two 10.25-inch widescreen screens are also available as an option. The steering wheel of the current generation is covered in leather as standard, alternatively Arctic synthetic leather is available. For the first time, however, it is also possible to have the heated steering wheel rim for the AMG Line.
Mercedes-Benz then significantly updated the standard equipment of the Gla and adapted the logic of the offer to specific customer wishes. For example, in addition to the leather steering wheel and the LED headlights, the basic equipment already includes the Highbeam Assist, the backup camera and the USB package.
Starting with the Progressive equipment variant, there is also the parking package and the mirror package. Other functional equipment is grouped into packages.
The technology is also at the forefront, because the new Gla is now also equipped with the latest generation of Mbux, with newly developed display styles, i.e. Classic, which provides all relevant information for the driver, Sporty, which stands out for dynamic tachometer and Discreet which reduces the displays to the essential contents.
To further reduce fuel consumption and emissions, the petrol engines in the new Gla are all electrified. The range includes four-cylinder units with seven- or eight-speed DCT dual-clutch transmissions as standard equipment. Mild hybrids are equipped with an additional 48-volt power supply for the belt-driven generator.
The further developed plug-in hybrid drive of the Gla 250 and above all gets an increase in performance. The higher usable energy content of the improved high-voltage battery also leads to a longer electric range. The power of the electric motor has increased by 5 kW to 80 kW, while the power of the system remains unchanged.
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, also featured in the range, is available in three power and torque levels. Its features include single-stage supercharging with a variable geometry turbine.
