Interior quality at a glance for Renault Austral

For New Renault Austral, quality in the passenger compartment is at first sight. In designing the new SUV, the Renault design and engineering team focused on the immediate perception of quality. All contact areas have therefore been finely crafted to make them soft and pleasant to the touch. The materials have been chosen with great care to underline an installation which, at a glance, must be clearly visible and refined. “For the New Renault Austral – commented Francois Farion, Renault’s color and material design manager – we carefully selected the materials and paid particular attention to the realization, as for the open-pored real wood finish”.
The upper part of the dashboard, without an eyelid, has a soft-touch foamed matt sheath.
The light strip continues up to the door panels, helping to give a wider visual impression.
The interiors are enriched with refined materials, such as real wood treated with the Japanese Maki-e method. This cabinet-making technique consists in applying, with a cloth, several layers of metallic pigments on the wood to underline its grain.
To the touch, this treatment preserves the reliefs and natural grain of the wood. Finally, an elegant satin chrome molding carefully wraps around the horizontal ventilation grille. Natural development of the dashboard, the front and rear door panels have a foamed upper part. They have the same moldings and finishes for a touch of greater refinement, regardless of the seat of the occupants.
The seat upholstery, which fades from black to light gray in the Techno version, combined with regenerated leather (fine-grain synthetic upholstery), then adds a touch of elegance. The center console includes an armrest finished in satin chrome and fine-grained upholstery that feels pleasant to the touch. Inspired by the worlds of aeronautics and watchmaking, its design refers to the concept of precision.
