European car market +12.2% in February, Stellantis +2%

In February, 902,775 cars were registered in Western Europe plus EFTA countries and the United Kingdom, 12.2% more than in the same month in 2022. In the first two months, registrations were 1,814,048, equal to a growth of 11.5%. The data comes from Acea, the association of European manufacturers. The Stellantis group registered 167,097 cars in Western Europe plus EFTA countries and the United Kingdom, 2% more than in the same month in 2022. The market share is 18.5% compared to 20.4% a year ago .

“The trend reversal that emerged with the first growth in August 2022 after thirteen consecutive monthly declines continues, but is slow to take shape” comments Gian Primo Quagliano, president of the Centro Studi Promotor who speaks of a “recovery due only to the improvement in supplies of components”.

“Compared to the pre-pandemic situation, i.e. compared to the first two months of 2019, registrations in Western Europe – he explains – are still down by as much as 23.6%”.
