The trailers and semi-trailers market, after the positive figure in January, marks a substantial balance in the volume of registrations in February, with one unit less recorded than in the same period last year (-0.1%). However, the balance for the first two months of 2023 remains positive at +4.7%, with 2,636 towed vehicles registered against 2,519 in 2022.
“Although progress is being made towards a significant reduction and stabilization of the delivery times of towed vehicles, the lackluster result in February raises concern, which reveals a contraction in demand in line with the forecasts and the uncertainties already expressed in recent months”, he comments Michele Mastagni, coordinator of the Trailers, Semi-trailers and Equipment Group of Unrae. “We believe that the efforts made by manufacturers of trailers and semi-trailers for the production of increasingly safe and technologically advanced vehicles of the latest generation – he adds – should not be neglected. For this reason we urgently ask the Government and the Ministry of Transport to the resources for the incentives already foreseen for the current year will be available as soon as possible, in order to accelerate the renewal of the Italian vehicle fleet, which with its 17-year average is stably among the oldest in Europe”.
