A few days before the arrival in Ferrara of the famous Bianchinas (the Autobianchi car that will gather enthusiasts on 28-30 April), the Este city will also host “A Ferrara in Ciao”. The reunion of fans of the famous moped – produced by Piaggio from 1967 to 2006 – will be held on 16 April.
The two-wheeled vehicles that will parade will be those of the 80s and are expected in the shadow of the Este fortress, the headquarters of the initiative will in fact be Largo Castello.
The City Council authorized the event. “A new appointment in the city for many enthusiasts, which further expands the calendar of sector events”, says the deputy mayor Nicola Lodi, expressing “great satisfaction and conviction in supporting an initiative that is aimed at a sector public but not only: the Ciao is in fact a bridge between eras, it is in the memories of entire generations”. Equipped with a simple sheet steel frame, whose shapes recalled the women’s bicycles of the time and inside which the fuel tank was also obtained, an automatic transmission with a V-belt and a drum braking system, the Ciao, a starting from the end of the 60s it quickly became a successful vehicle on a par with the other famous creation of the house, the Vespa.
“The proposed event – it is written in the resolution – intends to revive the emotions of the 80s through a fashion show and a static display of one hundred mopeds, of different models, by Ciao Piaggio, which have become part of the history, culture and Italian tradition”.
