Cars: 36,000 charging points in Italy, 88,000 in Germany

In Italy, at the end of 2022, there were 36,000 charging points throughout the country, of which less than 500 on the motorway network. This is what emerges from the study presented by Federmeccanica and Fim-Cisl, Fiom-Cgil, Uilm-Uil and elaborated by the Automotive Observatory which compares the industrial policies of the main European automotive economies.

In Germany there are about 88,000 charging stations, of which about 9,000 are ultra-fast; in France at the beginning of this year there were about 83 thousand, of which over 3,200 ultra-fast; in Spain at the end of 2022 there will be around 34,400 charging points.

The study points out that “charging infrastructure is advancing fast in percentage terms, but remains slow in absolute terms”. In fact, calculating the theoretical requirement with respect to the fleet in circulation and a hypothesis of 42 million electric vehicles in Europe in 2030, it emerges that the coverage of recharging points in Italy is 13.3%, slightly behind compared to France where it is 14.6%, but ahead of Germany where it stops at 5.8%. In first place is Austria with 25.6%. In essence, it should be noted that the delay in recharging points concerns the whole of Europe.
