Mazda CX-5: sustainable maturity with the mild hybrid

The Mazda CX-5 is a model of great importance for the Japanese brand, as evidenced by sales which, from 2012 to 2022, reached 3,976,523 units worldwide, of which 23,926 were in Italy. With the MY 2023, the Hiroshima-based SUV has been enriched with a 24V mild hybrid system for the petrol versions, the touch screen display of the multimedia system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, also in wireless mode, and USB sockets -C. In addition to the two special versions called Advantage and Newground, the first, deriving from the Center Line, more functional thanks to the electric tailgate, and the second characterized by lime green inserts both inside and outside, as well as chrome, rims with black carvings, and interiors with suede fabrics, the range includes the Center Line, Exclusive Line, Homura and Takumi trim levels. Already from the Center Line the equipment is quite complete, given that it includes the Full LED headlights, the front USB-C sockets, the wireless connection with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with functions that can be managed through the My Mazda app.
Under the bonnet it is possible to have two petrol and two turbodiesel units, namely the 121 kW/165 HP 2.0-litre e-Skyactiv-G and 143 kW/194 HP 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv-G petrol engines, and the 110kW/150hp or 135kW/184hp 2.2-litre Skyactiv-D diesel.
The petrol units also feature the cylinder deactivation system and Mazda M Hybrid technology as standard, as well as improved combustion control to optimize fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions. We drove the 2-litre petrol variant with manual gearbox and all-wheel drive along the roads surrounding Girona, in Spain, discovering a car that was mature in its dynamics, due to a long evolution that allowed for refinement of its characteristics, and now more connected, thanks to a better synergy with the smartphone.
