KG Mobility unveils Torres EVX electric crossover

The Korean company SsangYong, recently renamed KG Mobility, presented an electric version of the SsangYong Torres EVX crossover at the Seoul auto show.

This was reported by the press service of the manufacturer. The novelty has become one of the first models after the transition under the control of the holding KG. The crossover will be offered with front-wheel drive and a front-mounted 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor. It is powered by a 73.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery supplied by the Chinese company BYD. With its help, the crossover is able to overcome up to 500 km.

The electric version of the Torres EVX will be a more powerful modification than the Torres crossover, equipped with a traditional internal combustion engine. The model is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged T-GDI gasoline engine, which develops 170 hp. In addition, the ICE version is offered not only in a single-wheel drive version, but also with an all-wheel drive transmission.

In terms of its dimensions, the novelty is one step higher than the Korrando model. The car is 4715mm long, 1890mm wide and 1725mm high, making it slightly larger than the Nissan Rogue/X-Trail. The appearance of the Torres EVX differs from the ICE Torres with a new front end design with narrow LED headlights, illuminated grille and a different bumper. The car also received new 20-inch wheels and rear LED lights with unique graphics.

In the cabin there is a digital cockpit with two 12.3-inch screens in a common body. For processing, artificial leather and wood inserts are used on the dashboard and center console. The car is designed for a driver and four passengers, and a roomy trunk with a volume of 839 liters. A panoramic roof is available as an option.

The Torres EVX will be available in two trim levels – the E5 for $37,918 and the E7, which will cost $39,833. However, with the government subsidy on an electric car, the real cost for the new product to the consumer will start at $22,978, which is about $2,400 more than the Torres from the ICE.

KG Mobility plans to offer Torres EVX not only in the domestic market, but also in European countries, where the novelty is expected in the second half of this year.
