Coinciding with the first media day of the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) on April 5, Subaru will reveal the third member of the Wilderness family, a huge hit in the US that already includes these special versions for the Forester and Outback. The House of the Pleiades itself announces on its website that al Nyias will reveal the details of the “off-road updates, trail power and technology ready for adventure”.
The Crosstrek model will now benefit from the Wilderness treatment which will be characterized – as shown in a teaser image – by colored elements on the bumper that hide the recovery hooks, as in the Outback Wilderness and by wheels with a black finish and special Yokohama Geolander tires with lettering embossed white.
The Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system will be joined by the Lineartronic CVT and possibly an updated rear differential. There will also be a 180-degree front camera and skid plate.
No information for the moment on what’s new in the interior that if it is to be expected – given the other two members of the Wilderness family – interior accents in anodized copper.
The Crosstrek is equipped as standard with a standard 2.0-liter engine, but the Sport and Limited versions are equipped on the North American market with the more powerful 182 HP 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and it is therefore probable that the Crosstrek Wilderness will only be offered in this version.
