SsangYong becomes Kg Mobility and points to the future

A new renaissance for SsangYong Motor Company which becomes KG Mobility and aims to become a new generation mobility company. The announcement was made during the shareholders’ meeting held on March 22 at the company’s headquarters in Pyeongtaek, in the presence of CEO Jeong Yong-Won, executives, employees and shareholders.
Founded in January 1954 as Ha Dong-hwan, the company has a 70-year history that has made it Korea’s oldest vehicle maker and the country’s best-known SUV maker. The name later changed to Dong-A Motors in 1977 and to SsangYong Motor in 1988.
For KG Mobility, the term mobility will now not be limited to the production and sale of traditional automobiles, but also to the application of future-oriented technologies such as electrification, autonomous driving and connectivity, as well as the provision of mobility services .
KG Mobility intends to focus on new mobility technologies such as platforms dedicated to electric vehicles, SDVs (software defined vehicles), autonomous vehicles and AI, in line with the change that is affecting the global automotive industry.
