Ania, average motor liability premiums down by 2.4% in 2022

In 2022, according to ANIA (the association of insurance companies), average motor liability premiums fell by 2.4%. This is what we read in the report on premium income for 2022 according to which “the decrease in the average premium is the result both of a review of the tariff policies, which accepted the technical evidence of an even lower number of claims than in the year preceding the pandemic, and of persistent and intense competitive pressure between firms”.

The association underlines how it was “for this line of business the eleventh year of negative or zero variation in the average premium charged, which led to an overall drop in the volume of premiums from 2011 to 2022 of over 6 billion in absolute value ( of which over 1.6 billion between 2019 and 2022) and by 35% in percentage terms (about -12% in the last three years).
