In Paris ultra-limited traffic from January 2024, the details

In confirming the implementation of the limited traffic zone Zez (Zero emissions zone) from 1 January 2024, the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo detailed the steps that will precede the blocking of access to the French capital. From 1 July the so-called Phase 5 will start which will prevent access from Monday to Friday from 8-20 to cars and other light vehicles with a Crit’Air vignette of no less than 2 and Euro 5 approval for diesel vehicles registered after January 2011 and those with petrol at least Euro 4 and registered after 1st January 2006. The motorcycles admitted must be at least Euro 3 and registered after 1st January 2007.
The same obligation as the Crit’Air 2 vignette for heavy vehicles and buses which, however, will not enjoy the stop at checks on Saturdays and Sundays. Diesels will have to be at least and registered after 1 January 2014. These ‘limits’ will be relaxed for petrol or gas-powered models, which may be Euro 5 and registered after 1 October 2009.
On January 1, 2024, Hidalgo will trigger a further tightening of the measures: regardless of the days of the week, the times and the type of vehicle, all diesels will be banned. Heavy vehicles and buses will be allowed to circulate only if marked with a Crit’Air 1 vignette, while cars and vans will be allowed in the ZEZ area only on weekdays from 8 in the morning to 8 pm, only if with a Crit’Air 1 vignette as well as registered after the first January 2011 and homologated at least Euro 5.
Finally, the motorcycles that on 1 January 2024 will be able to circulate freely – such as cars and vans – on public holidays and between 8pm and 8am on weekdays. In the periods of activation of the Zez, to circulate they must be at least Euro 4, and registered after January 1, 2007 for motorcycles and after January 1, 2018 for mopeds.
