The carabinieri seized a large quantity of spare parts of probable illicit origin, worth over 3,000 euros, in a shop in the Zia Lisa district of Catania. The owner of the business failed to demonstrate legitimate possession and real origin and was reported for receiving stolen goods.
The Carabinieri of Catania underline that this is only the latest in a series of concrete operational results obtained thanks to the targeted control activities launched by the military of the Provincial Command, which since last January in reference to the phenomenon have already arrested six people in flagrante delicto and they reported as many in various operations between Catania and Misterbianco.
The Carabinieri of the Provincial Command will continue their activity to contrast the phenomenon but are asking for support from the citizens, who “must avoid turning to the parallel black market in car parts since such irresponsible conduct only exponentially fuels the phenomenon of thefts of motor vehicle or parts thereof, thus creating an endless vicious circle”.
