Positive debut for the young Leonardo Arduini in the Clio Cup Europe. The 18-year-old from Milan, who celebrated his coming of age on the track, impressed all insiders thanks to solid and constantly improving performances, culminating with the fourth row in qualifying – out of 49 participants – and the second best time in the Race 2 at the wheel of the car prepared by MC Motortecnica.

The weekend in Monza, which opened the Clio Cup European series, began under the rain of the first free practice sessions, where the young Leonardo clocked an excellent thirteenth time despite it being his ‘first’ on a wet track and rain tyres. The good performances then continued in the second test session, this time held on a dry track, where the Milanese driver had set a time that would have placed him in the Top5, but was then canceled by the race directors due to a track limit. Not bad, because in the two scheduled qualifying sessions Arduini confirmed his potential, setting the thirteenth and eighth best lap times on his debut on the French car and in a very high-level context such as the continental series.

The two races were convincing, where the Clio #60 battled with its rivals in the European series, achieving two solid performances despite two less than perfect starts.

“I immediately felt at ease and I increasingly took measurements on my Clio. We worked hard with the MC Motortecnica engineers to tailor it more and more to me and the results showed”, commented the young Arduini, vice-champion of the smart and -cup 2022 and son of art: father Massimo has won five Italian titles. “I grew session after session, constantly improving and managing to fight with the protagonists of the European series. It’s true that I participate in the Italian championship – added the Milanese driver, who occupies the fourth position overall in the Clio Cup Italia and the third place in the Challenger Tricolore standings – but when you share the track with riders of this caliber, your goal inevitably rises. I’m happy to have shown that I can stay with them. I think it’s the most beautiful and sincere thanks I can give to anyone like Bodega, Coyote and Rota Fabio allowed me to be here today and make me live this dream”.

The next round of the Clio Cup is scheduled at Spa-Francorchamps on 27-28 May where all the drivers of the various Clio series will compete: over 60 cars with the protagonists of the European, Italian, French, Spanish and Central European championships.
