Road safety also depends on the condition of the tyres, which is why the Safe Holidays campaign, promoted by Assogomma and Federpneus, in collaboration with the State Police, intends to check the condition of the tires of 10,000 cars circulating on the roads of our country.
The checks, preceded by a technical update session aimed at traffic police patrols and organized by Assogomma, will be carried out in the following regions: Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta, Veneto, Tuscany, Marche and Puglia, and will take place in the month of May with a queue in the first two weeks of June. The patrols involved in the initiative will have at their disposal the appropriate precision feeler gauges, and forms for recording road surveys which will be analyzed on the model of the Turin Polytechnic.
The collected data, once processed, will be illustrated in July, before the summer exodus, when the first foreign tourists will begin to arrive on our roads, and the Italians will begin to move towards the mountain or seaside resorts.
This is a period in which it will be important to be able to count on a car in perfect working order and to have tires at the right pressure and in good condition, given that those few square centimeters of tread are the only point of contact between the vehicles and the ground .
