Volvo EX90, starting production only in the middle of next year

Just weeks after halting orders for its flagship EX90 electric SUV, as announced at the end of April in its first-quarter financial report, Volvo Cars has now informed that there will be a delay in the production schedule of electric models. , including EX90.
The Swedish company, now owned by the Geely Group, explained that this lengthening of delivery times (which will therefore also concern customers who had purchased the first production lots) derives from the need for further development and software testing.
According to a statement from Volvo Cars also sent by email to reservation holders, the start of production of the EX90 has been moved to the first half of 2024 while it was originally scheduled for the end of 2023.
Volvo had anticipated that the EX90 SUV would come standard with innovative safety features and technologies designed in-house, integrating components from suppliers such as Google and Nvidia. In addition to the presence of Luminar’s LiDar sensors integrated into the exterior of the shields, the EX90 is expected to be the first Volvo model with bi-directional charging capability.
The news is coupled with the one recently announced by Polestar, the electric vehicle brand in Volvo’s joint venture, which announced a delay in the production of its Polestar 3 SUV, the brand’s first model to be built in the United States.
