The new and future electric car from Cupra will be called Raval. To reveal the name, during the first day of the International Motor Show in Barcelona, thought Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Cupra. The name is a tribute to the Raval neighborhood in the heart of Barcelona.
“Raval is one of the most surprising districts of Barcelona – said Griffiths – and today we are proud that the future electric car of the brand has its name and represents its spirit. Raval is not just a car. It is an invitation to a new generation that expects something better. A rebel and 100% electric car, with its own character and linked to Gen Z”.
Cupra Raval will be produced at the Martorell headquarters. The company will invest three billion euros in the transformation of the plant by integrating the production lines of combustion models with those dedicated to the new electrified models, and will produce electric cars starting from 2025 on the basis of the Volkswagen Group’s Meb Small platform.
Cupra also presented for the first time to the public at the Barcelona International Motor Show, the Tavascan, the brand’s first 100% electric SUV. Cupra DarkRebel, the brand’s dream car, was also shown to those present at the Barcelona International Motor Show.
