On the occasion of Bring On Tomorrow Live, an event held in Copenhagen to present Ford’s electric strategy, the house of the blue oval unveiled the new E-Tourneo Courier.
Designed to tackle the most diverse activities, the E-Tourneo Courier is a five-seater multi-activity vehicle with a design inspired by SUVs, which packs ample space for passengers and their luggage in a compact size for the city. The latest addition to Ford’s Tourneo family features a sophisticated all-electric drivetrain, complemented by a wide range of digital and connected features.
“Innovative products such as the E-Tourneo Courier – commented Martin Sander, general manager of Ford Model and Europe – represent the future of Ford in Europe: electric, fun and driven by an irrepressible spirit of adventure. Our new multi-activity vehicle 100 % Electric is the latest demonstration of our acceleration towards global production of large-scale, connected electric vehicles, a real must-have for our customers.”
The E-Tourneo Courier is one of ten 100% electric vehicles that Ford will offer in Europe by 2024, with the aim of selling exclusively zero-emission vehicles by 2035.
The 100% electric version will arrive in Europe in 2024, after the launch of the Tourneo Courier with EcoBoost petrol engine which will be available to order as early as this summer, with the first deliveries by the end of 2023.
The Ford newcomer has been developed to carry up to five adults and their luggage in comfort, with enhanced practicality thanks to 60-40 split rear seating and a 44 per cent larger trunk than the outgoing model. Increased headroom and optimized space offer a more comfortable cabin for passengers as well as various storage areas, including a configurable center console, a ‘secret’ compartment and a 44-litre frunk.
The E-Tourneo Courier’s 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor delivers smooth travel, further accentuated by the driver-selectable One Pedal 6 riding mode. The most comprehensive advanced driver assistance package in the category 7 makes it easier on both daily commutes and longer journeys. It is also possible to choose between the driving modes Normal, Eco and Slippery. The vehicle can be recharged in stations of 11 kW in alternating current or up to 100 kW in direct current.
