An app for car sharing is launched in the Bolognese Apennines

The municipality of San Benedetto Val di Sambro, on the Bolognese Apennines, is launching an app to invite citizens to share car journeys, so as to reduce costs, traffic and pollution. The use of Lightride is starting, the first web app in the Apennines, dedicated to the organization of automobile mobility, both for commuters for work or study reasons, and for leisure.

In fact, the application allows you to share trips and kilometer costs, offering or requesting a lift directly from your smartphone: just insert your own recurring announcement, for example the outward journey to and from work, or a single announcement to reach an unusual destination . You can make announcements to look for a lift or to offer it, get in touch directly and arrange the trip. “It is an initiative that can be defined as intelligent, because it is aimed at providing answers in an area where local public transport is struggling to provide the answers that citizens need, and sustainable because it is aimed at reducing the number of road vehicles that they move along our streets – comments the mayor Alessandro Santoni – It could also be a useful tool for young people, to consolidate the project of off-site university residences, as a useful aid for the movements of university students who choose this area to live during their studies “.

A mileage expense reimbursement is provided for the driver, which can vary between 10 and 30 cents per km (fixed by the advertiser). “The hope – concludes the mayor – is that this service represents an opportunity not only for our Municipality, but that it can be extended and become public knowledge for citizens throughout the Apennines, who will thus be able to move around even more easily “.
