Viability: 9.7 million for safety Mussomeli-Caltanissetta

The works for the safety of the provincial road 38, the artery that connects, in the shortest possible time, Mussomeli with Caltanissetta and the rest of the territory of Caltanissetta are ready to start. The intervention was contracted out by the commissioner structure for the contrast of hydrogeological instability, which belongs to the president of the Sicilian Region.

The works along about twenty kilometers of the route, which also involves a section of the Sp 23 Bompensiere-Mussomeli, will be carried out by the temporary association of companies led by Demetra Lavori of Vallelunga Pratameno. The contract was awarded for an amount of 9.7 million euros. There are five points in which we will operate, to protect the road surface from landslides and insidious cavities caused by erosion phenomena that are triggered in the subsoil, composed mainly of saline rock.

The consolidation of the rocky ridges that overlook hairpin bends and straight stretches will be accompanied by rainwater control works and, lastly, the total restoration of the roadway which will be equipped with new guard rails and signs. Furthermore, a reinforced concrete structure will definitively replace the prefabricated Bailey-type one that was built after the collapse of the bridge over the Stincone stream. The completion of the works is expected in July next year.
