Jaguar-Land Rover, electricity hub in the UK and not in Spain

The new European mega plant by Jaguar-Land Rover for the production of electric automotive batteries will be built in the post-Brexit United Kingdom, and not in an EU country such as Spain: a plant intended to guarantee 9,000 new jobs and to support the acceleration towards that ‘green’ turn recently evoked again by the top management of the two famous British brands, for some time now owned by the Indian giant Tata.

The two-way race between London and Madrid was therefore resolved in favor of the island according to a decision anticipated tonight by the BBC. It will be solemnly formalized next week with the signing of an ad hoc contract sealed by the presence in the British capital of Tata’s patron, arriving from India also to meet Rishi Sunak: the first premier in the history of the Kingdom with Asian (and Indian) family roots . The factory will open its doors in Somerset (South West England).

According to rumors in the Financial Times, Tata has asked (and probably obtained) aid of 500 million pounds from the Tory government in London for the project.

Downing Street has not yet commented on the news released by the media, evidently awaiting the formalization of the signatures. But environmental groups such as Greepace UK have already reacted positively to the announcement: welcoming it as a concrete positive signal towards the development of a more sustainable economy and industrial production, in the context of the international commitments undertaken to deal with the denounced pollution emergency planet and climate change.
