The new Super Tourer segment was born with the Aston Martin DB12

It is the first example of the new generation of sports cars and heralds a new era for Aston Martin 110 years after the founding of the famous Gaydon brand. It does this by offering a quantum shift in overall performance character and especially in its dynamic capabilities. We are talking about the new DB12 – unveiled yesterday evening – which takes its cue from the legendary DBs of the past (including the famous DB5 of 007) to define a new category, that of the Super Tourer.

Indeed, DB12 offers a change that the company defines as ‘epochal’ and sets a new benchmark for performance, ultra-luxury and style. The power available, 680 HP with 800 Nm of torque, is the highest in the category and the presence of the 4.0 V8 Twin-Turbo engine (of AMG origin) moves the levels, including the emotional ones, of driving towards new standards.
The Aston Martin DB12 offers enthusiasts and more experienced drivers a completely new suspension system with new intelligent adaptive dampers, Electronic Rear Differential (E-diff) and custom-designed 21-inch Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tyres.
“When a brand has as much history as Aston Martin – commented Amedeo Felisa, CEO of Aston Martin – it is important to honor the past. Not looking back, but pushing forward with the same energy and passion that animated our founders 110 years ago With the new DB12 we are reinvigorating the DB model line and re-establishing Aston Martin as the maker of truly outstanding performance sports cars by combining class-leading performance and exceptional chassis dynamics with cutting-edge technology, impeccable workmanship and superlative design. DB12 leads Aston Martin into a new era of excellence”.
The Aston Martin chief executive concluded by recalling that “with first deliveries scheduled for the third quarter of 2023, the bold new DB12 is defining its own new category of one and setting the benchmark for performance, driving excitement, ultra-luxury and style. This is no ordinary GT. The DB12 is the world’s first Super Tourer.”
In turn Roberto Fedeli, group chief technology officer of Aston Martin, said “DB12 is an important car. It affirms Aston Martin’s position as a leader in terms of performance, dynamics, engineering and technology. We have pushed every aspect of this car to be the best in its class. The result is more power and performance than its rivals.”
“Combined with outstanding handling and a rousing soundtrack, it is a car with passion and a truly sporty character. Crucially, thanks to its breadth of capabilities, we have achieved this without compromising refinement, comfort and luxury. Along with the Our use of industry-leading dynamic control and infotainment systems – concluded Fedeli – DB12 is the beginning of the most exciting new era of Aston Martin”.
