Experienced drivers know that preparations for the summer should begin in advance. And changing tires alone is not enough.
It is not always possible to carry out all activities “in one event”. How to prepare a car for summer and heat and what a driver needs to do – read the GLOBAL HAPPENINGS material.
Rubber replacement
Let’s start with the most obligatory and obvious – the replacement of rubber. Experts advise changing wheels when the average air temperature exceeds +7 °C. It is best to replace your own wheels, that is, have two sets of wheels and rubber. This will significantly save on tire services and reduce the “load” on the rubber.
Checking the cooling system
In summer, air conditioning is indispensable. You need to check if the cooling system is working – it may need diagnostics or refueling. It is also important to replace the filters, because in the cold season they accumulate a lot of dirt and moisture, creating an ideal environment for the growth of bacteria. In addition, experts advise:
- clean the air conditioning system;
- flush the outside of the cooling radiator;
- Check coolant level and system for leaks.
Trunk and interior cleaning
The interior should be thoroughly washed, and all winter accessories should be removed from the trunk: snow and ice brushes, brooms, shovels, wheel chains, etc.
Brake system
After evaluating the condition of the brake discs, pads and lines, it is necessary to additionally check the condition of the brake fluid. It must be changed at least once every two years.
Battery check
In summer, the electrical load on the battery decreases, but the temperature, on the contrary, increases. Experts advise checking the electrolyte level, and in case of its shortcomings, add distilled water.
Suspension
It is important to make a running diagnosis and, if necessary, carry out repair work. First of all, you need to replace the parts that require immediate attention.
