Volvo Trucks is increasingly focusing on safety

A new series of safety systems for Volvo Trucks vehicles, which aims to make the job of drivers easier. Among the systems that have been developed to increase the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, while at the same time facilitating the work of drivers, the new short-range frontal assistance device stands out.
The system is designed to detect a cyclist or pedestrian in the risk zone in front of the vehicle using a front radar and a camera, as well as to warn the driver if there is an imminent risk of a collision. Also new is the door open warning system, designed to warn if a pedestrian, cyclist or car approaches the vehicle from behind, on the same side of the vehicle as the door is open.
“We are constantly developing and introducing additional safety systems – said Anna Wrige Berling, Volvo Trucks traffic & product safety director – that improve the driver’s skills, helping to protect both them and the people they share the road with. At Volvo Trucks our long-term vision is zero accidents and safety is at the heart of everything we do. With these new systems we are taking important steps towards achieving these goals.”
Some of the new features have been developed to meet the updated EU safety legislation, the Global Safety Regulation, which will come into effect from July 2024. The Regulation, which mandates several advanced safety support systems driving, aims to increase road safety and improve the protection of drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
