To go big in terms of sales of electric models, Volvo chooses the small format, production in China and the Geeley Group’s Sea (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform which is already used by Smart #1.
The new EX30 SUV – which will become the entry-level model in Volvo’s BEV range – will therefore be positioned below the conventional XC 40 SUV and will offer a design that remains faithful to the stylistic features of the Swedish company.
This is confirmed by a video teaser of the company which heralds a global launch event on June 7th in Milan – in the exclusive The Mall in the Porta Nuova district, also known as the ‘design quadrilateral’ – in advance of the scheduled June 15th date previously.
EX30 will therefore be inspired by some of the brand’s larger models, with a shape characterized by clear lines and classic curves ‘in the right places’. The latest video partially reveals a futuristic light signature at the front and the typical vertical taillights on the sides of the tailgate.
“Our smallest ever SUV, the EX30, is designed to make people’s lives safer, more convenient and more enjoyable. It is also designed to have the lowest CO2 footprint of any Volvo. to date, while offering ample range.”
At 13:30 CEST during the presentation event – the note announces – “Volvo CEO Jim Rowan and other senior executives and experts will guide those present (and viewers via web https://ex30event.volvocars.com/) through the technology, design and other key highlights, allowing you to explore the car in an immersive way.”
