The Japanese company Toyota has prepared an update for its popular city hatchback Yaris. The car received new power units, as well as new security and comfort systems.
This was reported by the press service of the manufacturer. The popularity of the Yaris is evidenced by the fact that over 10 million cars of this model have been sold in 25 years. Therefore, the company is constantly upgrading the hatchback to meet the needs of customers. This year, the car has experienced another planned update.
In particular, the hybrid version of the Hybrid 130 has appeared in the family, which will take place one step above the Hybrid 115. In both cases, the hybrid system contains a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine, but the “130” version uses a new electric motor and transmission, as well as an updated BY. Thanks to this, the power reaches 130 hp. (96 kW), and the torque increased from 141 to 185 Nm. Now the hatchback is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.2 (-0.5 s). In addition, the level of harmful emissions has decreased and is in the range of 96-116 g/km.
Versions of the Hybrid 115 and Hybrid 130 will be available in two versions – Premiere Edition and GR Sport. The Premiere Edition trim includes a combination of a special shade of Neptune Blue with a contrasting black roof and pillars, 17-inch alloy wheels, and blue line trim.
Toyota has added to the standard list of safety systems. For example, the emergency braking system is now able to recognize not only cars, pedestrians and cyclists, but also motorcyclists. Another electronic assistant will be the ASALS system, which does not allow you to mistakenly press the accelerator pedal in traffic when there is a car in front.
The Yaris also has a new Emergency Driving Stop System. It works with Lane Trace Assist active. If the driver falls asleep or becomes ill while driving on the highway, the system will give a warning signal, and if there is no subsequent reaction, it will smoothly stop the car, activate the emergency lights and unlock the door.
The new Proactive Driving Assist system will automatically brake the car if the driver does not do so in the presence of a car in front or turning, and if this is not enough, the system will engage the electric power steering and ensure the maneuver or cornering. And the software of the Toyota Safety Sense complex from this model year can be updated over the air.
To entertain the driver and his companions in the updated Yaris will be a new multimedia system. Extended functionality includes a changing instrument scale with four interface options, and the screen size, depending on the version, can reach from 7 to 12.3 inches. The display of the multimedia system has a diagonal of 9 or 10.5 inches. You can connect your gadgets to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto wirelessly. In addition, some functions can be activated through the voice control system.
For the first time, the Yaris can be ordered with a unique digital key that can be used in conjunction with a smartphone to control door locks, climate control or alarms. It will be possible to order an updated hatchback in June this year. Prices will be announced closer to the start of the sale.
