This morning at 6, after a long illness, Mariella Mengozzi, director of the Mauto in Turin since 2018, died. She was 60 years old.
The lady of engines, the first woman to lead the National Automobile Museum of Turin, was born in Forlì in 1962.
She held important positions such as that of Retail Director for the Walt Disney Company and then for Ferrari, where she was in charge of Marketing and Strategic Planning. You were director of the Maranello Experience Business Unit which includes the Ferrari Museum in Maranello.

Mauto remembers Mengozzi, a great loss

‘The disappearance of Mariella Mengozzi is a great loss for the Mauto, for Turin and for the Italian car culture. And no less, from a human and personal point of view, for all of us who have had the good fortune to work with Mariella’. This is the comment of Benedetto Camerana, president of Mauto who, together with the members of the board of directors, had chosen her in 2018, ‘the first woman at the helm in a usually male world, knowing well the quality of her work in many companies, from Gft to Walt Disney, and above all in Ferrari. In the five years of her direction Mariella has given the management of the Museum an extraordinary impulse of enhancement and international growth, recognized by awards, presence in the main events and in the European and world networks of automotive culture; last but not least, the brilliant economic results. A little while ago I learned from the president of ACI Angelo Sticchi Damiani that just this morning in Strasbourg, in the context of a meeting between the FIA and the International Automobile Federation, they spoke about the Mauto and the brilliant results obtained in recent years thanks to him. Up until yesterday, Mariella thought of the Museum, as in all the months since the onset of the disease, in which she has never ceased to contribute her own ideas, always based on complete competence and lucid action and constant. I want to underline her exceptional sense of duty: a Savoy mentality, grafted onto her solid foundation of Emilia-Romagna commitment. Her disappearance leaves us just as we are looking for the new museum guide. The promise we make to you is ‘that we will start again from your legacy, from where you left us, to continue the growth of the Museum, to best honor your memory’. Mariella Mengozzi was director of the Mauto from 1 May 2018 to 30 April 2023. The first woman to lead the Museum, she carried out her work with passion, energy and optimism – comments the Mauto – even in the most critical moments such as those related to the pandemic. Her constant commitment and her innovative contribution led to closing 2022 with an exceptional result in terms of visitors and quality of the initiatives. Mariella Mengozzi was a tenacious and determined woman who has not neglected her commitments at the museum even in recent months, despite the evil that afflicted her.
