Ancma, the motorcycle market continues to grow, May +11.8% on 2022

The two-wheeler market continues to grow in Italy: in May, despite the bad weather, registrations of motorcycles, scooters and mopeds recorded a solid +11.8% over the same period last year. And for the fifth consecutive month, the numbers released by Confindustria Ancma, the national association of Cycle Motorcycle Accessories report a double-digit increase, certifying the positive trend for 2023. A trend which, according to the latest sales data collected by Acem, l he European manufacturers’ association confirms our country as the leading market in the Eurozone.
The May market marks 42,884 new registrations. The performance of the segments is balanced: scooters grow by 12.2% and register 22,372 vehicles; motorbikes which see their volumes grow by 11.38%, equal to 18,198 vehicles registered; mopeds, after a difficult start to the year, recovered and grew by 12% with 2,314 units sold. The cumulative market grew by a fifth (+20.6%) compared to the same period in 2022, putting 159,069 vehicles on the road. The most brilliant result remains that of scooters which mark a growth of 29.56% and register 78,872 vehicles; followed by motorcycles with a performance of +15.13% equal to 72,510 units; finally, mopeds progressively recovered from -34% in January to -4.38 in May, placing 7,687 vehicles on the market.
The electricity market is recovering from the troubles at the beginning of the year: in May, zero-emission vehicles increased by 44.84% and 1,809 vehicles sold, driven by the moped segment which, also thanks to the volumes brought in by , recorded a performance of +136.76% and 876 units.
