Caravan of ancient Rolls Royce in Trieste

The “Alpine Tour of the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Register”, a journey that retraces a road itinerary organized in Europe 110 years ago, brought 34 splendid models of ancient Rolls Royces to Trieste. The caravan – which left today – stopped for two days and two nights in the central Piazza della Borsa, a stage in a long journey that started from Vienna, winding through a long itinerary between Austria, Italy, Croatia and Slovenia, returning to the same capital Austrian.

Organized by Classic Traveling, an agency specialized in the sector, on behalf of the “Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club Silver Ghost Register”, the trip revived a re-enactment of the tour of the time. It is no coincidence that the trip was undertaken this year: Sarah Dowding, owner of the organizing agency, explained that 2023 is the 110th anniversary of the Alpenfahrt, a “classic” of trips for vintage cars .

The original Alpenfahrt lasted “only” eight days and required strong resistance from the drivers and cars. For 2023, on the other hand, the journey has been extended, up to three weeks, transforming a sort of competition into a pleasant journey, also in order not to put ultra-centenary engines and bodies to the test.

The initiative was carried out with stables, specialized agencies, historic clubs and was also thought of as a tourist opportunity. As Riccardo Novacco, president of Adrenalinika, who organized the Julian stage, underlined, the idea was also to showcase the beauties of the region.
