Dacia Jogger hybrid 140, the first electrified of the brand

The hybrid gets on board Dacia, and the debut is on Jogger, the most recent model of the brand that focuses entirely on concreteness. The technology adopted is the full hybrid one used for some time on the cars of the Renault Group. The Jogger Hybrid 140 powertrain is made up of a 1.6 petrol engine associated with two electric motors – a 49 HP engine and an HSG (High-Voltage Starter Generator) type high-voltage starter/generator – and a multimode transmission with clutch without clutch for a total of 140 HP and 250 Nm of torque. A solution that is well suited to this car which combines ample roominess on board – it is also available in a seven-seater version, like the example in our test – with a height of 20 cm from the ground which allows it to venture into a light off-road vehicle.
The presence of the hybrid is identified by a discrete specific badge on the livery, while on board the automatic gearbox and the presence of the Eco button – which favors electric driving – are the distinctive elements. The absence of the clutch allows 100% electric starting, with the torque immediately available. While driving, the electric and thermal technologies can work in series, parallel and series-parallel depending on the needs, with the motors that can operate independently or jointly by directing energy towards the wheels or the battery. The system automatically chooses the most suitable mode for the situation to best optimize emissions and fuel consumption. Energy regeneration takes place in the braking and deceleration phases, with the possibility of being increased by positioning the gear lever on function B (brake).

The advantages of the hybrid are appreciated both in the city, where it is possible to drive electric up to 80% of the time with a certain impact on consumption, and on fast roads where the thrust of the battery alone can come into play when under sail. The consumption that we have detected is around 20 km/litre. An interesting figure, if one bears in mind that Jogger is 4.54 meters long, 1.78 wide, 1.67 high and has a wheelbase of 2.89 metres. Measures to the full advantage of on-board habitability where – and we proved this during the long test to which ANSA Motori subjected this car – even seven can travel comfortably.
The only drawback is the large luggage compartment, which in ‘all up’ configuration is just enough for a trolley: 160 liters, which become 595 when there are 6 people on board, and then increase up to 708 (5 on board) and reach 1,819 when all the sofas are turned over.
Driving, Dacia Jogger Hybrid 140 proves to be ready thanks to the electric trigger, comfortable on long journeys and self-confident in the city. Certainly not a sprinter nor with exciting performance, but reliable and modular as expected from a car of this type. Compared to the fully thermal version, the set-up does not include any particular changes: the Extreme object of our test has an 8″ infotainment central unit, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, analogue instruments and on-board computer.
Prices for this hybrid start at 25,750 euros, a thousand more than the 7-seater set-up under test.
