Maserati: historic first victory in Formula E

Maserati returns to victory in a single-seater competition thanks to Maximilian Günther, who won race 2 of the Jakarta E-Prix valid for the Formula E world championship. The MSG Racing team worked hard to bring the brand of the trident, which resumes the timeline interrupted in 1957 with the victory of Juan Manuel Fangio in the German GP, always with a single-seater of the brand. Günther, author of a third place in race 1, managed to take the lead in race 2, only giving it up when he went into attack mode, to then get back in front of everyone by overtaking Mitch Evans on lap 20. In the continuation of the race, taking advantage of the free track in front of him, he became practically impregnable for his opponents. “It’s a fantastic moment for us as a team and a great achievement for Maserati,” said Günther himself. “What a day! We opened the Jakarta weekend with a podium and points and closed it with our first win in Formula E – added Giovanni Sgro, head of Maserati Corse – this historic result for Maserati is deserved and still motivates us to more in view of the season finale”.
