The record for production electric cars (a lap in 7:33 minutes) set by a Porsche Taycan Turbo S with performance kit on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife lasted less than ten months.
Now the 73 demanding curves of the Northern ring, for a total of 20.8 km, have been devoured ‘silently’ – but with great effectiveness – by a Tesla Model S Plaid with a track kit which, after numerous tests carried out in recent months, has fixed the timing display at a staggering 7:25.231 minutes, which is almost 8 seconds better than the Porsche.
As Tesla points out, which released the video of the record on its Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Sdy5xPUvWk), the Model S Plaid was equipped with the track pack which costs 18,435 euros in Italy and in addition to the elements to be replaced, it includes different software that allows you to reach 320 km/h.
The package includes the carbon ceramic brake kit (with 410 x 40 mm silicon carbide front discs; 410 x 32 mm silicon carbide rear discs; 6-piston monobloc front calipers; 4-piston monobloc rear calipers; pads performance brakes; parking brake integrated in the calipers; racing brake fluid and FW updated and calibrated for maximum performance.
The replacement of the wheels provides for the front) Zero-G 20x10J rims with 285/35R20 Goodyear Supercar 3R tires and at the rear Zero-G 20x11J rims with 305/30R20 Goodyear Supercar 3R tyres.
