A new fine for car owners may appear in Ukraine: details

For Russian drivers, a new fine may appear. A draft law on limiting the import of low-quality cars from Europe has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. It is assumed that for the operation of vehicles according to technical specifications that do not comply with the current legislation, they will be fined.

Bill No. 9210-1 is primarily aimed at the safety of using cars. The authors note that situations when cars imported from the EU are of poor quality, in particular the engine or other important components, are not uncommon. This can increase the level of harmful emissions into the atmosphere and affect the overall safety on the road.

In the EU, cars are deregistered for a number of reasons. The most common are high mileage or getting into an accident, after which large financial investments are required for recovery. Thus, in the explanatory note, the authors emphasize that cars from the EU often end up in Ukraine precisely because of their poor technical condition. Of course, if the imported car already has malfunctions, has been unauthorized or poorly re-equipped, this causes even more accidents on the roads during further operation.

It is quite logical that trucks and cars of the 90s and 2000s already have high mileage. These vehicles replace lower-than-spec Euro engines, and can cut out catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters. By the way, they do this, as a rule, before the car enters Ukraine. That is, a car registered in the EU and a car imported into Ukraine are often very different in terms of safety and environmental friendliness.

The authors of the bill note that car owners must pass inspection in a timely manner. If it turns out that the car contains components that do not comply with current legislation, the owner can be fined forty thousand rubles.
