The abandonment of the iconic V12 engine launched in 1986 at the Geneva Motor Show together with the 750i is nearing the end of the BMW Group. By providing a combination of 295 hp with a high-quality body, the new flagship 7 Series allowed the House of Monaco to receive 3,000 pre-orders even before the presentation. Now, 36 years later, this ‘top’ engine – gradually evolved – is preparing to leave the scene due to the impossibility of adapting to future emission standards and is proposed on the latest generation of the 7 Series, the M760i xDrive, in a Final Edition of only 12 units, all reserved for the US market.
The cars – the company note reads – will be produced as part of the Bmw Individual customization activity, therefore with colors and finishes chosen by the customer, and will have a price corresponding to about 180 thousand euros. Under the hood of these 12 ‘flagships’ will be the latest edition of the V12 M TwinPower Turbo engine with dual supercharging, continuously variable valve control (with dual Vanos and Valvetronic) and high-precision direct petrol injection, to produce well 601 Hp between 5,500 and 6,500 rpm.
This engine, with the complicity of the 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission, will allow the M760i Final V12 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.6 seconds, with comfort characteristics and driving dynamics suited to the importance of the engine. Externally, the Final V12 series will be distinguishable from the other 7 Series by the V12 lettering on the rear and many other qualifying details such as the special 20-inch light alloy wheels painted in window gray or jet black at the customer’s choice and then burnished to reveal a surface. in dark silver.
The BMW M760i xDrive Final V12 will be offered in a single fully accessorized and equipped configuration, which includes the Driving Assistance Professional package, luxury rear seats, Sky Lounge panoramic roof, Icon adaptive LED headlights with laser light and surround sound system. Bowers & Wilkins Diamond.
To make this car even more exclusive – which will be delivered starting in July – BMW has selected a list of customers with a long history of ownership of the 7 Series V12 models. These will be contacted through an invitation to purchase and will have priority in the order.
